Apple frigiver iOS 17.4-opdatering med understøttelse af alternative appbutikker og betalingsapps i EU

Apple har frigivet iOS 17.4-opdateringen, der nu understøtter alternative appbutikker, browsermotorer og betalingsapps i EU.

Opdateringen er en følge af EU’s forordning om digitale markeder, der kræver, at store techfirmaer som Apple gør det lettere for andre at tilbyde services og alternative betalingsplatforme på deres platforme.

Dette betyder, at tredjepartsudviklere nu kan tilbyde tjenester og modtage betalinger via alternative platforme, hvilket vil gavne apps som MobilePay.

Derudover åbner opdateringen også op for brug af alternative appbutikker og browsermotorer, hvilket giver brugerne mere valgfrihed.

Dog skal udviklerne stadig igennem Apples godkendelsesproces og betale et gebyr for hver installation.

Apple har tidligere fjernet muligheden for progressive webapps, men har nu besluttet at understøtte dem igen.

Udviklerne i Europa er dog ikke begejstrede for Apples måde at overholde reglerne på, da de mener, at det er for dyrt og besværligt.

EU vil evaluere Apple og de andre techgiganter inden 7. marts for at vurdere, om de har levet op til reglerne, og kan i givet fald udstede bøder på op til 6% af Apples omsætning.

Apple kan derfor blive tvunget til yderligere ændringer i fremtiden.
